Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a globally recognized investment professional who has completed the CFA Program, which includes passing three rigorous exams and meeting experience requirements. CFAs specialize in investment analysis, portfolio management, and ethical financial practices.

What does a CFA do?

CFAs are experts in investment research, portfolio management, financial analysis, and asset valuation. They often work in roles like fund managers, analysts, and financial strategists.

How do you become a CFA?

To earn the CFA designation, candidates must pass three levels of exams, have at least 4,000 hours of qualified work experience, and commit to a strict code of ethics.

Is a CFA a fiduciary?

While CFAs are held to high ethical standards, they are not automatically fiduciaries unless they operate in a role that legally requires it, such as as a registered investment advisor.

How long does it take to get a CFA?

Most candidates take 3 to 4 years to complete all three exam levels and gain the required experience.

When do CFA exam results come out?

CFA Level I and II results are typically released about 6–7 weeks after the exam date, while Level III results take about 7–8 weeks. Exact timelines vary by exam window.
