Other business activities
Outside business activity is any business or activity undertaken by an advisor that is outside the scope of their relationship with their firm (e.g., consulting services, real estate, freelance work, teaching, etc.). Investors should stay informed about these activities to ensure no conflicts of interest.
(1) Dual role as President of Basepoint Tax & Accounting LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Basepoint Wealth, LLC, and CFO for Basepoint Wealth, LLC. Located at 4144 Golf Street N.E, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. I have been employed by Basepoint Wealth, LLC since 11/2022. I work approximately 250 hours a month. I provide services typical of public accounting, which include tax preparation and planning, business consulting, and bookkeeping services, to a variety of client types, including my role as leader for Basepoint Tax & Accounting, LLC. Most of my work is during securities trading hours. My role as President of Basepoint Tax & Accounting is not securities-related or investment-related and is done both during and outside of normal trading hours. (2) Treasurer for The Ecumenical Community Center of Cedar Rapids Iowa. Activity is not investment related. Located at 601 Second Avenue SE Cedar Rapids, IA 52401. I have participated in this activity since 05/2016. I provide oversight of financial reporting, cash flow, budgeting, and monthly reporting to the Board. I do not directly handle any incoming receipts. I devote approximately 2-5 hours per month, mostly during non-securities trading hours. (3) Treasurer for The National Czech & Slovak Museum and Library. Not investment related. Located at 1400 Inspiration Place SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. I provide financial oversight of financial and budget reporting, serve as Finance Chair on Board of Trustees, and provide oversight and reporting on organizations Endowment and Restricted Funds. Not involved in day-to-day operations, bill paying, or receipt of monies. I occasionally sign checks as second approval for disbursements over $2,500. Approximately 5 -10 hours per month, mostly during non-securities trading hours. (4) St. Joseph Catholic Church Fun Days volunteer located at 14th Avenue, Marion, IA 52302. Not investment related and started January 2019. I am Co-Finance Committee Chair with my spouse which includes developing, implementing, monitoring, and facilitating all financial policies and transactions to support the annual church fundraiser including internal controls and depositing, reconciling, and disbursing monies. Parish pastor approves and signs everything. Approximately 2 hours during non-business trading per month. (5) 12/2020, under Court approval I was appointed Conservator for a client of Basepoint Tax & Accounting LLC. My duties are to assist the Guardian of the Ward with all investment oversight, financial related tracking, bill paying, and reporting. Approximately 5 hours monthly during non-trading business hours in this role. I submit an Annual Conservator Report to the Iowa District Court for approval. I have a $1.65 million Surety Bond to operate in this capacity. I am paid to and in my capacity of President for Detweiler & Associates, LLC (single member) $75.00 per hour for my time in this capacity. Assets are transferring in 2024 from Charles Schwab to Basepoint Wealth, LLC for investment management and financial planning.(6) Treasurer Marion Columbus Club. Not investment related and began 10/2021. The organization is operated from my home. I generally oversee the monthly accounting and financial reporting, bank reconciliations, bill paying, and a very small amount of operating dollars. I also prepare the annual Form 990 for the organization. I also attend/report at regular monthly business meetings. Approximately 1-2 hours per month on average during non-business trading hours and 1-5 hours during business trading hours annually.(7) I am paid residual compensation to and in my capacity of President of Detweiler & Associates, LLC (single member) each quarter by Honkamp & CO CPAs for previous investment related commissions splits for years working as an IAR with Avantax Planning Partners LLC, formerly Honkamp Financial Services Co. This compensation continues through 12/31/27 at which time it will end.
