Biography
Dave began his financial career in 2004 as a planner, helping advisors map out strategies for their clients. In 2007, he founded the fee-only comprehensive financial planning firm Yellowstone Financial, which later became Confluence Financial Advisors. Dave has been the personal finance columnist for the Boulder Daily Camera and other Colorado newspapers since 2008 with over 250 columns published. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder, teaching the upper division Retirement Planning course in the Leeds School of Business.
Dave was president of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners, a national group of independent, tax-focused financial planners. He has served as a trustee of the Boulder Valley Rotary Club foundation and as president of the Club in 2018-2019. He holds an undergraduate degree in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley with High Honors and was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa. Dave is married and lives in Boulder with his family including three sons, whom he vainly tries to keep up with on the local running trails. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, is admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service, and holds a FINRA Series 65 License.
